Band knives are continuous loop blades used in splitting, skiving, and slicing machines. The steel must combine high fatigue life (millions of flex cycles) with edge retention. We supply the strip; you form the loop and grind the edge.

Four grades cover the full range of band knife applications, from economy to premium.

Premium

75Ni8 (DIN 1.5634)

Ni 1.80–2.10% delivers the highest fatigue life among band knife steels. The go-to grade for high-speed splitting machines running millions of flex cycles. HRC 44–52.

Standard

75Cr1 (DIN 1.2003)

Chrome-carbon steel for small-to-medium band knives. Good wear resistance at lower cost than 75Ni8. Width up to 260mm. HRC 47–52.

High Impact

15N20

Ni 2.0% alloy with exceptional toughness. Used where impact resistance matters — frozen food cutting and heavy-duty splitting. HRC 46–52.

Food Industry

SKS51 (JIS G 4404)

Japanese Ni-Cr alloy tool steel. The standard for food band knives in Asia. Excellent balance of hardness and fatigue life. HRC 45–52.

The edge profile determines cutting performance on different materials.

Straight Edge

Straight / Knife Edge

Clean, smooth cutting for leather, rubber, and textiles. Ground to a fine bevel. Best for materials that need a clean cut surface without compression.

Wavy Edge

Wavy / Sinusoidal Edge

Continuous wave pattern, pitch 3–12mm. Acts like micro-serrations that grip soft materials. Ideal for foam, sponge, bread, and insulation. Cuts faster with less material compression.

Scalloped Edge

Scalloped / Crescent Edge

Individual concave cutouts creating sharp points. Aggressive cutting action for frozen meat, cardboard, and dense foam. Each scallop acts as an independent cutting tooth.

Corrugated cardboard and paper slitting. Scalloped or wavy edge on 75Cr1. Moderate fatigue requirements; wear resistance is the priority.
